FEB 23 pondering tools
Mostly trying to process trying to feel valid as a person who enjoys making tools in a world in which everyone “vibe codes” their own tools, and if supporting myself this way be invalidated soon enough.
• To keep up and been seen as a valid contributor you’re pressured to a new level of productivity. The timelines shrink while expected output remains. Reaching out to a person who enjoys niche x or y explain a concept to you is seen as silly friction… isolating ourselves for the sake of productivity
• Do we lose the moments of surprisingly mistakes that happen when either building tools or making them. Does an AI making a mistake feel the same.
But in the end I am of course lucky to have friends I can ask about these things, and having more folks feel empowered to build things for themselves is a special thing. Maybe one day it can happen without consuming the power of a small nation.
