The Wretched
Day 4, salvage vessel The Wretched. Flight Engineer Karl reports.
Somehow I did fall asleep. The headaches are still there, fortunately not as strong as yesterday. Today I brought the bodies of the rest of the crew, at least the ones I could find, into the last working airlock. They were all very badly mauled and I had to throw up several times. I still can't believe John, Karl, and Richard are really dead. Last week I cursed them for taking my entire week's paycheck playing cards. There was almost a brawl. I just hate losing. Anyway, they were really good colleagues. Basically, we spent all our free time together on the ship. But they're past it. I wish I was in the airlock too. What's weird is that I found a weapon on Richard. I have no idea how he got it onboard. Even though I carry it with me all the time now, I don't feel any safer. Maybe it will help me end this misery myself.
This is Karl, the last survivor of The Wretched, signing off.
Day 3, salvage ship The Wretched. Flight Engineer Karl reporting.
The morning began with a strong headache, which got worse and worse. Only when almost no air was left I realized that something was wrong with the oxygen system. With my last strength I could identify and close the leak. Gradually the oxygen level was approaching the normal level again. Who or whatever was responsible for the leak, I could not find out. The idea that the leak was deliberately caused by makes me lose the long needed sleep. I'm afraid I won't be able to wake up tomorrow. This is Karl, the last survivor of The Wretched signing off.
Day 2, salvage ship The Wretched. Flight Engineer Karl reporting. I managed to detach a defective escape pod from the ship. I was able to successfully distract the intruder. At least it seemed that way at first. Unfortunately, I heard sounds between the outer hull again shortly afterwards. I'm tempted to give up. All the dead on this ship are giving me a hard time. I don't have any energy left in me for today. I'm desperate. This is Karl, the last survivor of The Wretched, signing off.
Day 1, salvage ship The Wretched. Flight Engineer Karl reporting. The other members of the crew are dead and the engines remain non-operational, though ship integrity remains good and life support systems are still active. I successfully jettisoned the intruder from the airlock, but it remains alive and continues to try to access the ship. With a little luck I can repair the distress beacon and somebody will pick me up. This is Karl, the last
survivor of the Wretched, signing off.
